Really easy to find when getting off at Chinatown MRT station, I chose to stay at the Adler hostel for my first night in Singapore after reading flattering descriptions in my favourite guide book.

The owner apparently got inspired by boutique hotels to create its own boutique hostel: a spotless white facade, nice classy furniture in the lobby and a very clean atmosphere in general.

I paid 30 Singapore dollars for one night in a pod in a 16 Bed Female Dorm (in the second building a few doors away from the main one). My pod was really comfy!

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that I received a free bottle of water and earplugs but also that a nice towel had been prepared for me (well I will skip the part where I actually forgot to take it when having a shower…). There was also a big locker to store my huge backpack, an individual light, international plugs and silk curtains to protect me for the ice-cold fan!

There are 2 bathrooms, each with 2 toilets+shower, to share between the girls. There were very clean, the water was warm instantaneously (but don’t forget to switch on the lock outside) and there is free shampoo and shower gel available. Just be careful that it can be quite slippery if you go to the toilet after someone just had a shower!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is right in the middle of Chinatown (= cheap and good food!) and just behind the very lively Club Street where you will be able to drink cocktails surrounded by many occidental faces!

A 15-minutes walk will also take you to the Marina bay, which I enjoyed a lot on my first night.

In the morning, breakfast starts at 8.00AM in the classy common room of the main building (where you can also find lots of people using the Wi-Fi … but also board games, books, a big tv and drinks and finger food to buy). There is a bit of everything to eat and drink: orange juice, toasts, scrambled eggs, honey, fruits… Happy stomach!

My verdict: perfect location, nice personal space, great place, great stay!
